Santo Domingo - The former leader of the National Federation of Merchants and Businessmen of the Dominican Republic (FENACERD), Ricardo Rosario, warned this Tuesday that in the next few days the price of bread could go up, due to the fact that the businessmen of that sector of the economy cannot assume the increases in wheat flour, yeast and other products.
Although the bakers have reached some agreements with the Minister of Industry and Commerce, VÃctor Ito Bisonó, it is impossible for them to continue to assume the disproportionate increases of raw materials", he said.
He affirmed that the retail sector is willing to sit at the dialogue table with industrialists and representatives of the central government, to identify a formula that will help to counteract the price increases of the products of the family basket.
